Back to the Drawing Table

When push comes to shove and pennies start to get pinched it's back to the drawing table for me. That is...the plasma drawing table. Call it what you want; selling myself, prostitution of the blood, or, my personal favorite, saving a life. Today was my first day back donating after exactly a year of absence...and a bad experience. But sometimes a lack creates a drive to do things despite the costs to receive the benefit. There is purpose to this effort...

A year ago I bought a plane ticket to fly to Texas to spend Christmas with my family, but being asked to work the Christmas holiday I credited my ticket to use within the year. But to my dismay I discovered in order to use my credited ticket I needed to complete a trip by November 15th, pay $150 to redeem the ticket, plus the difference in the cost of the new ticket. WHAT!?! That throws going to Texas for Christmas OR Thanksgiving this year right out the window. So...doing a complete circle, we're back at the drawing table.

Ooohhh.... you have a plane ticket to use??? Come to WA! Or better yet, join Sharyl and I on our San Francisco trip! We were going to leave Nov 12th & come back the 14th :)

Your family is in Texas now?
Ha! I just read your plasma-donating horror story, and that's EXACTLY what it felt like when I fainted when I was on the phone with you when we were like twelve. Minus the nausea. Everything just starting to go black and sounds seemed like they were coming from miles away. But then everything DID go black, so at least you were spared the embarrassment of having someone standing over you as you come to on the floor wondering WHAT the heck just happened! Good times, good memories :-).
